To me, it’s troubling to know that people hide behind their keyboards and pretend to be someone they’re not. I understand that many people are insecure but I don’t think that gives anyone the right to pretend they are someone else. Many people online have lied about who they are, what they look like, even their name and where they live in order to engage in some fantasy relationship with a random person. If I were on an online dating site, seriously looking to find someone I’m compatible with, how humiliating would it be to find that the person you have been chatting with, or even letting them in on personal information, isn’t at all who they say they are? I think the internet allows so many people to hide behind a mask and become someone else when they should really be embracing, accepting, and loving who they are as a person.
