In the story, a black woman working in the 60s and 70s talks about how she works low paying yet hard labor jobs. She also depicts the ways she had been discriminated by the white people she worked with (white males). She talks about how sex is on one end and race is on the other. That being a female is tough in the work place yet a white woman is able to move up faster than a black female. She believes that being a black female is a much harder struggle than being a white female. And I cannot argue with this for I will never have to face the challenges that she did. Its sad to think that people, perfectly normal, hard working people were discriminated like the narrator in this story for just being a female, and also due to their skin color. Although its not as relevant now as it was then, I believe it still goes on in numerous work places today, which is sad to think.
