Birth Control

Reading the passage “My fight for Birth Control” in our book is just horrifying. The thought of women taking drugs and giving themselves abortions is absolutely sickening. In this reading, the woman is controlled by the people around her and takes the advice of a friend to stick a foreign object up her vagina to give herself an abortion. Having complications, the young mother dies.

This young mother was controlled by her husband and was not allowed to use any type of contraception, and had no knowledge of contraception. She had no control over her own body. She had no say as a mother barring her child. She had an ultimatum, to kill the child any way she could. All women and mothers have a reproductive right to have children. No one can tell a women they are not allowed to have a child.

Women having to take these drastic measures and destroying their bodies is awful. Women should have the right and the choice to take birth control or to have children.  All women need to know their options to protecting themselves and their bodies.
