Half the sky

Half the sky really got my attention about how women are treated around the world. The part that hit hard for me was the women in India being forced into prostitution. That has to be horrific to young girls. I don’t see how their mothers allow that to take place. It puts my mind at ease that people are trying to make a difference in the customs they do not like. Especially the women in Kenya who refuse to let their husbands beat them. It doesn’t matter what culture or country you are from No women deserves to be beaten by their husband or anyone for that matter. The women who live in the umoja village really have guts and i look up to them for their courage. Life for them hasn’t been a walk through daisies, but with their efforts and some help, it could be so much better.
