Invisible war

This movie was a shocker for me to watch. The women and men in the military should not have to deal with being raped, harassed or anything along those lines. They are in the military for a reason and those are not it at all. Their officers saying that the women bring it upon their selves; no body brings or deserves for that to happen to them. The men don’t even deserve to be hit in the head and knocked out for the reason of another man to rape him. All because they are asking for it. I do not agree with that at all. On top of that the military loses the files and the names of the people who turn in a rape case. The women and men should not afraid of turning a crime that was committed for any reason, and for the men who committed these crime should not be allowed to be in the army they should be kicked out for what they did.

The Invisible War

In watching the movie The Invisible War, it really opened my eyes as to how messed up the military truly is.  We all have this mindset that because the military is set to defend our country, then surely it would defend and take care of the people that are not only citizens that live in it but also the people who have put forth their own lives to defend and fight for it.  It is mind boggling to believe that women dealing with these horrible things are actually being blamed for such actions taking place.  Instead, they should be receiving the proper support they deserve when these things are happening behind the scene.  However, the bottom line is this- any woman willing to be a part of the military should not expect to be treated any differently than any man in the military.  There is a reason why men made up the military before women did, we have slowly crept our was into it equally.

Half the Sky

I felt as if the usage of celebrities in the film was clever. I was convinced based on their performances that the actresses seemed very moved and inspired by the women shown in the film. The usage of America Ferrera and Olivia Wilde will not only, I think, bring money to the cause, but also publicity. The usage of such popular American actresses should really be effective in the getting the message of abused women around the world.

Half the Sky really was almost a smack in the face to American women in showing us just how lucky we all are, for the most part. For the most part again, each of us can set out in life to accomplish anything we set our minds to. We can venture out daily without any sort of rational fear. We, as American women, can depend on the idea that none of our family members are going to sell our bodies to sex traffickers. I don’t think any of us, man, woman, or child, realize just how lucky we truly are.

The Invisible War

Rape being an occupational hazard is outrageous. Men and women should not have to sacrifice the rights they have as civilians when they enlist in the military. Men and women should join the armed forces with the notion that they are going to be taken care of in many areas including the right to protection and justice if the need arises. If a civilian is raped, all hell breaks lose. But apparently if a member of the armed forces is raped, no one cares. Women cannot be treated as if they had it coming, neither can men for that matter. Just because a soldier is bored and aroused does not mean you can bend over the nearest private and have your way. Sexual assault plainly ruins peoples’ lives. Action needs t be taken to change the way the military handles crime of this nature. Being an official of high ranking power does not make you master of the universe contrary to popular belief.

The Invisible War

I was amazed by those women’s stories. Though I felt bad for the women, the also inspired me. They express their struggles and worries, but they also fought through their pain to support their cause. One of the things that impacted me the most was how not only the women suffered, but their families did as well. The husbands of the women now have to face intimacy issues with their wives because of something someone else did. Also, the parents of the victims feel guilty for not being able to protect their children, which must be very painful. Also, the testimony of the abused man really shocked me. It opened my eyes to fact that a rapist is willing to use anyone they can get their hands on in order to abuse them.

After watching the film it left me being really disappointed with our military. It makes me sick to think that administrators care more about their image more than their soldiers who are willing to die for them. Hopefully, the federal government can put a stop to this and extinguish the fear the abused victims feel for others who are wanting to join the military.

Invisible War

When hearing about the movie invisible war i was thinking that there was just a few cases of rape in the U.S. military. the fact that they were mostly people in higher rank appalls me. men and women join the military with the intention of saving lives and risking theirs for the country they live in. men are suppose to have respect for the women they serve with because we have had to fight twice as hard to finally  be able to join the military. l think the most shocking part was that out of more than a thousand rape cases only about just over a hundred actually served time for the crime. Also the fact that the women were charged with adultery and they werent the ones that were even married. When i think of Military men i think of strong, noble, and true gentlemen and this movie has completely changed my opinion of them and the fact that they should respect the women who serve with them as much as they respect the men who serve with them and have their backs.

Invisible War

The documentary Invisible War, really opened my eyes.  I never would have thought that this would be an issue in our armed forces, the people who are supposed to protect us, but they cannot even protect their own.  It blows my mind that women and men have to go through such terror at the hands of their superiors or “brothers.”  It makes me so mad that these women and men do not get the justice they deserve, and they are the ones blamed for what happened to them.  According to the documentary, the Department of Defense says that 3,158 incidents of sexual assault were reported in 2010, however, they estimate that 86% of incidents are not reported. According to those statistics,  that means there are about 22,548 sexual assaults in one year. It is unbelievable that this has been going on, and the responses when people report being raped.  It makes me sick.  I am so glad that once the documentary got out, that something was finally done about who can determine what happens with these cases.  However, I still think that there needs to be more changes so that this will never happen again.
