The Invisible War

Rape being an occupational hazard is outrageous. Men and women should not have to sacrifice the rights they have as civilians when they enlist in the military. Men and women should join the armed forces with the notion that they are going to be taken care of in many areas including the right to protection and justice if the need arises. If a civilian is raped, all hell breaks lose. But apparently if a member of the armed forces is raped, no one cares. Women cannot be treated as if they had it coming, neither can men for that matter. Just because a soldier is bored and aroused does not mean you can bend over the nearest private and have your way. Sexual assault plainly ruins peoples’ lives. Action needs t be taken to change the way the military handles crime of this nature. Being an official of high ranking power does not make you master of the universe contrary to popular belief.
