Sex Trafficking in the United States?

Until today in class, I never imagined sex trafficking happening in the United States. This shocked me when I learned that it happens here, even in what seems like nice family oriented neighborhoods. I knew sex trafficking was a big problem in other countries especially after watching the movie Taken. In the movie a teenage girl goes with a best friend overseas and ends up falling victim to a sex trafficking group. The movie made me aware that that could happen to anyone, but I never imagined it happening in my home country. I was astonished to find out how Atlanta has the highest rate for sex trafficking in the United States. No girl or woman deserves to live that type of life style. It was also crazy to find out how gangs in Virginia lure young girls into sex trafficking. One gang member ran his business out of the basement in his home. His neighbors had no idea that this was happening. It’s very scary knowing that this could happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Women need to be aware of their surroundings and be safe on social networks. Sex trafficking is terrible and needs to be stopped!
