Half the Sky Movement is so uplifting and educational. Before I watched it I knew that sex trafficking, prostitution, physical and sexual abuse occurred all around the world, but I was unaware that women in Africa and other countries women were going through “torture” so to speak. I am talking about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), FGM is a serious problem in foreign countries, such as Kenya, women who have this procedure (circumcision) around the ages 6-9 result in having complications in birth, severe pain, prone to infections and much more. In Half the Sky you see different women in situations so horrible they are blind to the abuse because they don’t see the wrong in it. Women in these countries see it as culture, their destiny in this world as women. Women shouldn’t have to feel less worthy. We are just as equal as men and should have the equal amount of opportunities all across the world.
