In class, I learned a very disturbing yet real facts that occur in the military. As a women I was enraged and upset to hear the stories of the women who were raped while serving for the military. We watched a movie called “This Invisible War,” and it showed the internal and external damage that occurred to these women who were victims and the internal damage it had done to them. The worst part was hearing how their was no help while it was occurring and NO help after the incident. One woman in particular has been waiting way over a year to even have her case open for review and she was still waiting. Another lady was laughed at by the Sargent that she reported to after she was raped and he treated it as a joke and offered no help. Women are still being seen as a piece of meat rather than a professional. Rape is looked at so lightly in the military and it becomes looked at as the woman’s fault. One women was even charged for adultery after she was raped by a married man. I never knew how common this was and I think their should be more awareness towards it to help support the women in the military.
