Today in class we were watching a documentary called Fish out of Water. In the documentary, it talked about the fact that there is a religious aspect to whether agree or disagree with homosexuality. There were certain people interviewed who thought that gay marriage was a sin and shouldn’t be allowed. The thing is, we all sin and make mistakes. The fact that the bible does not actually say anywhere that gay marriage and gay relationships should be banned is something that people need to become aware of. Too many people are focused on “pleasing God” and looking good to other people to stop and realize that the actions of others have nothing to do with them. One of my favorite quotes is by Anne Hathaway, “Love is a human experience, not a political statement.” Who are we to justify what is right and wrong? Why should we have any say in what others think, feel, or do? Gay marriage isn’t harming anyone. People are expressing love in the way they know best. By allowing people to be themselves, we allow our society to be open-minded. It’s something worth considering when you look at personal relationships between two different humans.
