In class the other day we watch a documentary that discussed the dilemma of women being raped in the military. This documentary was eye opening. I had no idea that amount of women that are endangered during their jobs on a daily basis. A statistic I found states that, “A 2004 study of women veterans from Vietnam and all wars since, who were seeking help for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), found that 71% said they were sexually assaulted or raped while serving.” This is not acceptable; the military must address this in a manner that results in systemic change. I also feel that harsher deterrents must be set for the heinous crime.
